Hapag-Lloyd linked to MPC’s four-ship order

Hapag-Lloyd has announced contingency procedures for shipments linked to several Gulf countries as the security situation in and around the Upper Gulf continues to affect vessel movements and port operations.

German mainline operator Hapag-Lloyd is said to be the charterer of four 4,500 TEU ships that MPC Container Ships (MPCC) commissioned at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry on 14 November.

Hapag-Lloyd will reportedly fix MPC’s newbuildings for 10 years upon their delivery in late 2028, according to Linerlytica’s report today (18 November).

The newbuildings, priced around US$58 million per ship, have options for two additional vessels.
