
Hapag-Lloyd will implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on shipments moving from the Far East to the Upper Gulf, Persian Gulf and Arabian Gulf.
The surcharge will apply to sailings from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan starting March 6, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Under the adjustment, the PSS will be set at USD 500 per 20-foot container and USD 1,000 per 40-foot container.
The surcharge applies to bookings issued on or after March 6, as well as previously issued bookings that have not yet shipped to Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia (Dammam and Jubail), including cargo moving to the Red Sea, Pakistan and Sokhna via Jebel Ali. The charge will be borne by the sea freight payer.
