Hapag-Lloyd increases rates from Asia to Latin America

German box line Hapag-Lloyd has announced that on 1 November a General Rate Increase (GRI) is set to take effect on cargo shipments from Asia to the West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

This increase of US$2,000 will apply to all shipments using 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, including high cube containers and 40-foot non-operative reefers. This GRI will remain in effect until further notice.

The geographical scope of this increase encompasses various countries. Asia includes China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, and Brunei.

The increase applies to destinations on the West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, covering countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
