Hapag-Lloyd increases rates for Asia – Americas shipments

Hapag-Lloyd announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) from Asia to the West Coast of South America, the East Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

This GRI will apply to cargo transported in 20’ and 40’ dry containers, including high cube equipment and 40’ non-operative reefers.

The new rate increase will apply from 1 April for all the following destinations and from 19 April for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, as follows:

  • 20′ Dry Container: US$500
  • 40′ Dry Container: US$1,000
  • 40′ High Cube Container: US$1,000
  • 40’ Non-operative Reefer Container: US$1,000

Asia region includes China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Brunei

The West Coast of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean include Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, while the East Coast of South America comprises Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
