Hapag-Lloyd applies increased Africa rates

Hapag-Lloyd has published updated rates for sailings with destination to Africa, which will be effective from 15 August.

Firstly, the German liner operator will implement a peak season surcharge (PSS) of US$550 for 20′ dry containers from Egypt to Benin, Congo, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Mauritania of West Africa.

Additionally, a general rate increase (GRI) of US$250 for all sizes of dry boxes will be imposed from Hapag-Lloyd for cargo sailing from United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, to Tanzania and Kenya of East Africa.

Moreover, the Hamburg-based carrier will apply a GRI of US$300 for all dry units from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives of the Indian Subcontinent to Tanzania and Kenya of East Africa.

Last but not least, Hapag-Lloyd will set another GRI of US$500 for dry cargo from Yemen, Jordan and Saudi Arabia to Tanzania and Kenya.
