Hanau Port marks 100 years as key Rhenus Logistics Hub

Hanau, a vital logistics hub since 1925, is celebrating its 100th anniversary as one of the Rhenus Group’s oldest locations. The milestone was marked with special events, including customer boat tours aboard Rhenus’ excursion vessel Möwe and dedicated employee cruises followed by a summer portside gathering.

Today, the Hanau port site combines tradition with modern logistics capabilities. It features a direct rail connection, its own shunting locomotives, and extensive storage capacity—80,000 m² of open space and 27,000 m² of covered facilities. The location handles fertilizers, building materials, minerals, metals, glass products, heavy goods, and mineral residues, supported by modern processing facilities for drying, screening, bagging, palletizing, and silage.

Beyond storage and transshipment, Hanau’s port operations include building material and power plant residue trading, as well as the production of blasting media, continuing its role as a cornerstone in regional and national logistics.
