Hai An takes delivery of 18th container vessel

Hai An Transport and Stevedoring Joint Stock Company (HAH) has successfully taken delivery of its 18th container vessel, M/V HAIAN IRIS, marking another key milestone in the company’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernization strategy.

The handover ceremony took place on October 17, 2025, as Hai An continues to strengthen its position in Vietnam’s maritime transport sector and the broader regional container market.

Formerly named Optima, the vessel was built in 2011 by Kyokuyo Shipbuilding, Japan, and flies the Bahamas flag under IMO No. 9609419. The ship measures 146.03 meters in length, 22.5 meters in breadth, and has a carrying capacity of 1,100 TEU. Following delivery, the vessel will be reflagged to Vietnam and classified under both NK (Japan) and VR (Vietnam Register).

With the addition of HAIAN IRIS, Hai An’s fleet now comprises 18 vessels ranging from 800 to 3,500 TEU, totaling approximately 29,300 TEU in capacity. This reinforces Hai An’s status as Vietnam’s largest and youngest container fleet owner and places it 68th among the world’s Top 100 container carriers, according to Alphaliner (as of October 17, 2025).

According to Hai An, HAIAN IRIS will begin operations on October 22, 2025, serving the Hai Phong – Lianyungang (China) route. The deployment will enhance trade connectivity between Vietnam and China while further improving Hai An’s efficiency and network coverage across intra-Asia routes.
