Gulftainer digitalizes operations and business procedures

United Arab Emirates-based port operator Gulftainer has declared its intention to shift its core ERP to the cloud.

The company will be adopting RISE with SAP and S/4HANA to enhance its global and regional operations, aligning with its broader digital transformation roadmap.

As part of their extended collaboration, Peter Richards, CEO of Gulftainer, met with Marwan Zeineddine, managing director at SAP UAE, during COP28 at Expo City Dubai. Senior representatives from both organizations, including Vinay Sharma (director of IT at Gulftainer) and Johannes Dressler (chief operating officer at SAP Middle East South), were present at the meeting.

“In a dynamic and fast-paced supply chain and logistics industry, technological innovations are the key driver for our transformation journey. Gulftainer has long been at the forefront of accelerating technology trends, setting an ambitious strategy to implement new technologies and innovative solutions within our operations, infrastructure, business procedures and engineering to achieve our growth goals in meeting customers’ needs and the dynamic changes in the market,” stated Peter Richards.

This formalized a new phase in their strategic partnership, aimed at advancing Gulftainer’s digital capabilities. The collaboration is expected to provide a competitive advantage to Gulftainer’s customers and partners in the evolving landscape of the industry.

By leveraging RISE with SAP, Gulftainer aims to embrace innovative technology solutions, streamline operating costs, and accelerate the time-to-market for customized solutions. This strategic move aligns with Gulftainer’s digital ambitions, focusing on fostering innovation and bolstering resilience.

The adoption of this new solution presents Gulftainer with the opportunity to enjoy managed services, encompassing continuous updates and maintenance. This not only facilitates seamless operations but also positions Gulftainer to effectively realize its vision of digital transformation, making the company more agile and forward-looking in its approach.

Furthermore, incorporating RISE with SAP into its operations will provide Gulftainer with access to cutting-edge technologies such as advanced analytics, machine learning, and robotic process automation (RPA). This integration is expected to enhance overall business operations, empower informed decision-making, and contribute to fulfilling the company’s environmental commitments.

Richards added, “We are confident that the implementation of ‘RISE with SAP’ in
our business ecosystem will propel us towards new levels of efficiency, sustainability
and excellence in the supply chain and logistics sectors. This underscores Gulftainer’s dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology for the advancement of our regional and global operations.”
