Greenergy, a European producer of biodiesel made from waste, has confirmed a ten-year renewal of its sublease agreement with the Port of Amsterdam, further strengthening its long-term presence in the Netherlands’ biofuels sector.
Since purchasing the Amsterdam facility in 2018, the company has invested heavily to adapt the site for processing waste oils and, more recently, to expand capacity by 25%.
This upgrade allows the plant to handle a broader mix of waste feedstocks while keeping pace with rising demand for waste-based biofuels.
These investments align with the Netherlands’ renewable energy strategy, as government policy requires an increasing share of renewable fuels through 2030, ensuring steady growth in demand.
Adam Traeger, CEO of Greenergy, said that through ongoing investment, they are positioned to play a central role in decarbonising European transport with sustainable, waste-based biodiesel.
Koen Overtoom, CEO of Port of Amsterdam, added that this agreement underlines a shared ambition to cut CO₂ emissions and supports our strategic goal of making Amsterdam a leading hub for renewable fuels.
