Godby Shipping has entered into a one-year time charter agreement with Stena Line for the roro vessel Mistral, with an option for the charterer to extend the deal beyond the initial term. The vessel will join Stena Line’s service between Europort Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Harwich in the UK, supporting one of the operator’s key North Sea routes.
Before the charter begins, the Mistral will undergo dry docking at the Remontowa shipyard in Poland in early 2026. Alongside routine maintenance, Godby Shipping will implement a series of energy-efficiency upgrades. These include new propeller blades and a redesigned bulb optimized for speeds of 10–14 knots, which are expected to deliver significant fuel savings. The vessel already features a Variable Frequency Drive, making it highly fuel-efficient even prior to the planned modifications.

The company noted that these investments form part of its wider strategy to ensure the fleet meets tightening environmental regulations, including the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), the EU Emissions Trading System and the FuelEU Maritime framework. Enhancing the performance of existing tonnage, Godby Shipping said, is essential for long-term compliance, competitiveness and the delivery of sustainable transport solutions for charterers.
Godby Shipping highlighted its longstanding partnership with Stena Line, recalling earlier collaborations involving the Miranda, Misida and Misana. The charter of the Mistral, the company added, reinforces this positive relationship and underscores its commitment to providing safe, efficient and environmentally responsible maritime services.
