GEODIS starts ASEAN renewable-diesel trucking pilot

GEODIS has launched Southeast Asia’s first cross-border trucking service powered by renewable diesel. The pilot marks a major step in cutting emissions across the company’s regional road network.

The trial uses a dedicated Euro-5 truck running from Singapore to the Thailand–Malaysia border. It runs on Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, supplied by Neste and distributed by Singapore-based Interion.

Renewable diesel, also known as HVO, is made from waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil and animal fats. It can cut lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% versus conventional diesel. The fuel works as a direct drop-in for existing diesel engines.

GEODIS will assess fuel performance, cross-border operations, supply reliability, and carbon savings. The results will guide a wider rollout across Asia Pacific.

Esther Cheong, Regional Sustainability Director at GEODIS Asia Pacific and Middle East, said the pilot proves renewable fuels can decarbonize trucking today and support a more sustainable supply chain. Neste said projects like this show how renewable diesel can quickly lower the climate impact of road transport in Southeast Asia.
