GEODIS hits urban decarbonization milestone in France

GEODIS now serves 100 French city centers with low-emission delivery vehicles. The company aims to reach 200 cities by June 2027. This move cuts urban pollution, improves air quality, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions.

The initiative forms part of GEODIS’s ongoing urban logistics transformation. Rising e-commerce, denser city centers, and client demand for sustainable delivery prompted the company to act five years ago.

GEODIS uses vehicles powered by alternative energy, localized facilities, and cycle logistics. In Lille, a river port base brings logistics closer to the city. In Paris, 100% electric distribution operates across the city.

The Distribution & Express division now runs over 700 alternative-energy vehicles, covering 15.6% of urban deliveries. By 2030, the goal is more than 3,000 such vehicles. HVO renewable biofuel extends range on long-distance routes and is being rolled out beyond Paris.

Gilles Dêcher, EVP of Distribution & Express, said: “We are scaling up sustainable urban logistics across France. By 2027, 200 cities will benefit from efficient, low-emission delivery solutions integrated into future urban dynamics.”
