The Gemini Cooperation partners Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have temporarily suspended direct calls at Ningbo on their Transpacific WC5/TP7 service, following the new fees imposed by China on US-related vessels and companies, according to industry sources.
The affected service, operated with US-flagged tonnage, will now discharge cargo bound for China at Busan, from where it will be feedered to its final destination.
The provisional rotation is: Busan – Los Angeles – Yokohama – Busan.
This rerouting measure is expected to remain in place until further notice, as carriers assess the operational and regulatory implications of the new Chinese measures.
