The Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk will introduce Antwerp as a direct call in its Europe–Far East service starting next month.

Since the consortium’s launch in February 2025, the Belgian port has been served via transshipment at Tangier, combined with a dedicated shuttle service. The new arrangement upgrades Antwerp’s role within the network by integrating it as a direct port of call.

Antwerp will be added to the NE2/AE1 service loop, which will rotate between Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, London (Gateway), Tangier, Singapore, Shanghai, Shenzhen (Yantian), Tanjung Pelepas and back to Rotterdam.

The move is expected to enhance connectivity between Northern Europe and key Asian hubs, offering shippers improved transit times and more streamlined service across the Europe–Far East trade lane.
