Gebrüder Weiss expands location network in Romania

Global transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has expanded its location network in Romania, with a major investment of €20 million in Popesti-Leordeni.

Wolfram Senger-Weiss, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss, affirmed that the second location complements the existing facility west of the capital in Bolintin-Deal, offering first-rate conditions to provide even better logistics support to Romania’s emerging economy.

The modern terminal has an area of around 19,000 m² for warehouse logistics, transshipment, administration, and favorable transport connections to the Black Sea port of Constanta and neighboring Bulgaria.

Country Manager Viorel Leca explained that the goods distribution efficiency level will be improved, as the increasing traffic load in the capital required a two-terminal solution to supply the metropolitan area from two geographic directions.

The opening of the new terminal coincides with Gebrüder Weiss celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of its entry into the market in Romania.

Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss, highlighted Romania’s economic development as the country has become a sought-after manufacturing location.

In the past year, 700 employees handled some 1.1 million shipments.
