French oil group Total rebrands to reflect green goals

The French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total has decided to change its name to TotalEnergies after a company’s shareholders meeting on 28 May. With the new name, the Paris-based group aims to anchor its strategic transformation into a broad energy company, adopting at the same time a new visual identity.

“Energy is life. We all need it and it’s a source of progress. So today, to contribute to the sustainable development of the planet facing the climate challenge, we are moving forward, together, towards new energies. Energy is reinventing itself, and this energy journey is ours. Our ambition is to be a world-class player in the energy transition. That is why Total is transforming and becoming TotalEnergies,” declared Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies.

This new name and new visual identity reflect the company’s aim to produce and provide energies that are ever more affordable, reliable and clean, said TotalEnergies in its announcement.
