FLOWRA and ClassNK join forces on floating offshore wind

FLOWRA and ClassNK have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on floating offshore wind technology development.

Under the agreement, both organisations will explore cooperation to advance floating wind technologies and reduce costs and risks in future projects.

FLOWRA develops shared base technologies for floating offshore wind through international collaboration. ClassNK is a global classification society supporting maritime safety, environmental protection, and renewable energy certification.

FLOWRA Chair Masakatsu Terazaki said the agreement strengthens the organisations’ long-standing technical cooperation and supports the early integration of advanced floating wind technology into society.

ClassNK President & CEO Hayato Suga noted that floating wind standards and technology development are essential for industrial-scale deployment. He affirmed ClassNK’s commitment to supporting Japan’s floating wind growth through certification, standards work, and accumulated expertise from national demonstration projects.

Both organisations aim to accelerate the safe, efficient rollout of floating offshore wind in Japan and globally.
