The container ship ONE Henry Hudson is preparing to return to berth at Yusen Terminal in the Port of Los Angeles after the onboard fire was fully contained, authorities said.

Under the direction of the Unified Command, crews have assessed the vessel’s stability and secured the cargo ahead of the transit. Firefighting units will escort the ship back to port and remain on standby once it is alongside.

Cargo and firefighting water will be offloaded by longshore and salvage teams as the next phase of operations begins. Specialist salvors from DONJON-SMIT are overseeing the process, with vessel stability to be monitored throughout.

U.S. Coast Guard Captain Stacey Crecy said the safe return reflects close coordination among all agencies involved and confirmed that safety remains the top priority.

Air quality continues to be monitored on and around the ship by the Coast Guard and Port Police hazardous materials teams. Officials say readings remain below state and federal limits, with no impact detected outside the safety zone.

The Unified Command includes the U.S. Coast Guard, Port of Los Angeles Police and the vessel’s representatives, supported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
