Fincantieri secures long-term concession at Ancona Port

Port of Ancona

Fincantieri has signed a multi-decade concession for the Port of Ancona, allowing the company to use over 314,000 sqm of land, water, and existing facilities for shipbuilding activities. The agreement, valid until 2064, was signed by Vincenzo Garofalo, President of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, and Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero.

Fincantieri will invest around 40 million euros to modernize and develop the Ancona shipyard. Also, the plan aims to strengthen the site’s competitiveness in building large naval units. This milestone follows a process started in 2017 and builds on a 2023 agreement promoting shipyard growth and innovation.

In addition, the concession highlights the shared goal of enhancing the strategic role of the port and shipyard, boosting regional economic development and the Italian naval industry.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, said:
“This concession is a key step for the Ancona shipyard and Italian shipbuilding. Our development plan will transform the shipyard into a center of excellence, combining tradition and technology. We are committed to a sustainable, cutting-edge future in partnership with the Port Authority and local institutions.”

Vincenzo Garofalo, President of the Port Authority, said:
“This signing confirms Fincantieri’s long-term commitment to Ancona. The shipyard continues to generate jobs, innovation, and opportunities in Marche and central Italy. Its cruise ship construction remains a global example of Made in Italy excellence, with major environmental innovations and unique onboard experiences.”
