Fincantieri, Idea Prototipi partner on Robotics Rollout

Fincantieri has signed a multi-year collaboration agreement with Idea Prototipi srl to accelerate the use of advanced robotic technologies across its shipyards. The deal aims to boost automation, digitalization, and sustainability in production while supporting innovation-driven small and medium-sized enterprises.

The agreement was signed by Claudio Cisilino, EVP Operations, Corporate Strategy & Innovation at Fincantieri, and Massimo Agostini, CEO of Idea Prototipi.

Idea Prototipi, based in Friuli, specializes in integrated hardware and software for industrial robotics. Through this partnership, Fincantieri will rapidly integrate portable, multipurpose cobots into its supply chain. The solutions will be tailored to meet the unique needs of shipbuilding, using an agile co-development process.

Fincantieri says the initiative strengthens its role as a technology enabler and supports the creation of a modern industrial ecosystem. The Group plans to leverage its global scale to help innovative SMEs grow, internationalize, and access new markets.

CEO Pierroberto Folgiero commented: “Shipbuilding must embrace new production technologies to stay ahead. Over the past three years, we have invested heavily in robotizing our shipyards under our ‘shipyard innovation’ project. Partnering with SMEs like Idea Prototipi is the fastest way to validate and scale new solutions, creating value across the supply chain. We are just at the start of this journey, but the early results are very encouraging.”
