FIATA elects new global leadership team

FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, has elected a new leadership team during its 2025 Electoral General Meeting in Hanoi, marking a new chapter for the global freight forwarding community.

Thomas Sim from the Singapore Logistics Association has been elected President, succeeding Turgut Erkeskin of Türkiye. The election also marks a historic milestone — the appointment of FIATA’s first woman to the Presidency, with Nadia Abdul Aziz of the UAE’s National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL) among the newly elected Senior Vice Presidents.

The new Presidency includes:

  • President: Thomas Sim (Singapore)

  • Immediate Past President: Turgut Erkeskin (Türkiye)

  • Senior Vice Presidents: Jens Roemer (Belgium), Nadia Abdul Aziz (UAE), Yukki Hanafi Nugrahawan (Indonesia)

  • Treasurer: Neil Taylor (Chile)

  • Secretary General: Keshav Tanna (India)

The expanded board features representatives from 12 countries, reflecting FIATA’s global reach and commitment to regional inclusivity. Chairs of FIATA’s institutes, advisory bodies, and regional divisions will continue to drive progress on digitalisation, sustainability, and trade facilitation.

In addition, outgoing President Turgut Erkeskin praised the incoming team and reaffirmed his support for FIATA’s new leadership. Moreover, highlighted the federation’s growing influence in global logistics policy and collaboration.

In his address, President Dr. Thomas Sim pledged to strengthen FIATA’s unity and global role:“FIATA’s true strength lies in our diversity and shared mission to connect the world through logistics. Together, we will continue to  build a sustainable, innovative, and collaborative future for global trade.”

Lastly, with this new leadership, FIATA aims to reinforce its position as the voice of freight forwarders worldwide, driving the sector’s transition toward digital transformation and sustainable growth.
