At GasTech 2025 in Milan, Everllence, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries-Engine Machinery Division (HHI-EMD), and HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) announced a collaboration to design a next-generation, medium-size gas carrier. The vessel will feature Everllence’s dual-fuel, two-stroke B&W G50ME-LGIA engine, capable of running on ammonia.
Christian Ludwig, Head of Two-Stroke Sales & Promotion, and Sang-Bae Cha, Head of Sales & Marketing Korea, signed for Everllence. Dong-Jin Lee, Executive VP, and Byung-Kuk Kang, Senior VP, signed for HMD and HHI-EMD.
“This partnership is a leap toward zero-carbon propulsion,” said Ludwig. “Combining Everllence’s dual-fuel expertise with HMD’s shipbuilding capabilities sets a new standard for sustainable vessel design. Together, we are shaping the future of clean energy at sea.”
Cha added: “This agreement aligns with our push to decarbonize shipping. The ammonia engine under development has drawn strong industry interest. We are confident ammonia will soon play a major role in marine propulsion, and this concept will prove its potential.”
