Everllence will supply a 5 MW MOPICO® (Motor Pipeline Compressor) system to the Jauniunai gas transport station in Lithuania. The system features integrated magnetic bearing technology and a fully electric drive. It will be installed by leading EPC contractor MT Group and operated by AB Amber Grid, Lithuania’s national gas transmission operator.
Boosting Gas Transmission with Zero Emissions
The Jauniunai station lies on a key gas corridor connecting Latvia and Poland. Compressors boost pressure every 150–250 km to maintain steady gas flow. The new MOPICO® unit will compress gas to around 53 bar. It will run on renewable electricity and produce zero direct CO₂ emissions.
Combining Technology and Sustainability
Mindaugas Zakaras, CEO of MT Group, said: “This project brings advanced technology and sustainability together. It modernizes infrastructure and supports a cleaner, resilient energy future for Europe.”
Basil Zweifel, Everllence SVP, added: “Our MOPICO® technology is efficient, flexible, and eco-friendly. Its oil-free, hermetically sealed design reduces emissions and maintenance while supporting infrastructure decarbonization.”
Innovative Design for Reliability
The compressor is powered by a high-speed Everllence electric motor. MECOS active magnetic bearings remove the need for dry gas seals and lubrication. This design increases reliability and reduces lifecycle costs.
All design, manufacturing, and testing take place at Everllence in Zurich, Switzerland.
Dr. Kristina Norvaišienė, MT Group Managing Director, said: “Everllence’s magnetic bearing technology is cutting-edge and aligns with climate neutrality goals.”
Wiebke Korfitsen, Everllence Team Lead, added: “This project reflects close collaboration and a shared vision. We aim to deliver solutions that meet today’s needs and set sustainability benchmarks for the future.”
