Ever Given to depart Egypt after more than 100 days

The 20,388TEU Ever Given will leave the Suez Canal after more than three months, following the agreement between the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the vessel owners and insurers.

“Following the agreement in principle between the parties, and after further meetings with the Suez Canal Authority’s negotiating committee and numerous court hearings, good progress has been made and a formal solution has now been agreed,” stated on 4 July the insurance group, UK P&I Club.

The Ultra Large Container Vessel (ULCV) is anticipated to depart Egypt on Wednesday, 7 July, while preparations for its release will be made in due course.

Additionally, UK P&I Club announced an event marking the agreement will be held at the SCA’s headquarters in Ismailia, Egypt.
