
The Port of Long Beach has appointed Mark Erickson as Program Management Director. He will lead the Program Management Division at the nation’s second-busiest seaport.
The division operates within the Engineering Services Bureau. It oversees major infrastructure projects, including waterways, wharfs, terminals, railroads, bridges, roadways and utilities. Erickson will help deliver the Port’s $3.2 billion capital improvement program.
Erickson previously served as Assistant Director of Program Management. He was appointed to that role in 2024. He joined the Port in November 2015 as a Senior Program Manager and was promoted to Deputy Chief Harbor Engineer in 2019.
During his tenure, Erickson played a key role in major capital projects. His work includes leadership on the $1.8 billion Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility project.
Before joining the Port of Long Beach, Erickson worked at the Port of Oakland. There, he led several major initiatives. These included improvements at the Oakland Ferry Terminal, construction of the Port Field Support Services Complex, expansion of the Joint Intermodal Terminal, and redevelopment of the Oakland Army Base.
Erickson holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis. He is a California board-certified civil engineer and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
His appointment took effect on December 1, 2025.
