Emtelle, KEZAD sign deal to develop new US$50 million manufacturing facility

Emtelle, a global manufacturer of passive fibre-optic network solutions, and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group confirmed the signing of an agreement to construct one of the world’s largest facilities for the manufacturing of fibre optic ducting and pre-connectorised solutions.

KEZAD inked a second Build-to-Suit deal with the Emtelle, which will invest nearly US$50 million in three manufacturing phases.

The Emtelle facility is the second Build-to-Suit agreement that KEZAD has signed. In November 2022, KEZAD Group broke ground on the UAE’s largest e-commerce fulfilment centre for noon.com.

The facility, according to the statement, will be built on a 48,000 m² plot of ground and will be leased under a Build-to-Suit agreement with KEZAD. Emtelle will be able to increase its production capacity of micro-ducting, bundled-ducting, and pre-connectorised solutions for fibre-optic networks from this Abu Dhabi centre, turbocharging network implementation both in the area and globally.

“This facility will export 95% of its manufactured products globally, leveraging the end-to-end infrastructure presented to us by KEZAD,” stated Sanjay Nischal, managing director (Middle East & Asia Pacific) at Emtelle Group.

The agreement is the newest move in Emtelle’s Middle East expansion, following the purchase and rebranding of AfriPipes Middle East in 2021. Emtelle is also expanding significantly into North America, with the establishment of a production plant in North Carolina.
