DP World launches new digital platform

DP World has launched Cargoes Customs, a new digital compliance and revenue platform, aiming to facilitate paperless trade and solve supply chain challenges.

The new platform disposes of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven risk engine to improve visibility and traceability while promoting seamless collaboration between authorities, government departments and stakeholders.

This technology is based on World Customs Organization (WCO) best practices, optimising the customs clearance process and helping customs organisations reform and modernise processes by streamlining digital transformation.

“Offering a single window interface, Cargoes Customs uses a template-based design, which means customs organisations can update or roll out new services at the click of a button,” noted a DP world official.

In addition, Cargoes Customs reduces classification issues and provides an intelligence-enabled, unified customs operating model that optimises border management and revenue collection activities.

The system also empowers customs agencies to facilitate trade, secure global supply chains, and increase compliance, while it also minimises revenue leakage for government agencies, according to a statement.

“Trade is a key driver to help economies around the world to recover fairly and sustainably from the economic shock of the pandemic,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World, who went on to add that the new digital solution connects customs officials and traders through an easy-to-use interface and a suite of custom-built tools.

“Cargoes Customs is a holistic solution powered by technology targeting all aspects of global trade including Finance, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Tracking, Terminal Operating System, Customs software and enabling end-to-end logistics,” noted Pradeep Desai, chief technology officer at DP World.
