DP World enhances specialist services for retail and chemicals sectors

DP World is broadening its specialist logistics services for clients in the retail and chemicals industries, enhancing its global supply chain network with new capabilities and expertise.

This expansion builds on DP World’s existing strengths in automotive, perishables, healthcare, and technology. Handling over 10% of global containerized trade, DP World is enhancing its sector-specific expertise to provide more comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions. This ensures that customers in chemicals, retail, and other sectors are well-equipped to tackle future challenges.

DP World’s commitment to chemical logistics is reinforced by its subsidiary, Legend Logistics, a Singapore-based global logistics firm. The company aims to grow its global capabilities to support the US$4.2 trillion international chemicals industry, which demands advanced logistics solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and comply with stringent environmental and safety standards.

“We are adding fresh impetus to our mission to lead global trade into a more resilient and efficient future. With the addition of new expertise, we enhance our ability to provide an unparalleled service to our customers worldwide, and especially those seeking to access specialised services in two diverse, but fast-evolving sectors in global trade: chemicals and retail,” stated Beat Simon, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Logistics, DP World.

Looking ahead, DP World is preparing for future challenges and opportunities, including the need for more sustainable logistics and expanded service coverage in emerging markets. The investment in chemicals logistics is geared towards supporting the sector’s anticipated US$1 trillion growth over the next decade.

Meanwhile, DP World aims to enhance its retail sector services by increasing ocean and air freight, cold chain logistics, and warehousing capacity. Through its Hong Kong-based subsidiary, Cargo Services Far East, and its sister company CN Logistics, DP World is well-equipped to serve customers in the retail and high-end fashion sectors.

This includes expertise in Purchase Order (PO) management, from origin consolidation to handling retailer POs, ensuring efficient finished goods management, cost savings, transparency, speed to market, and scalability for retail businesses.
