Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and the classification society DNV have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during KORMARINE, aiming to create SHI’s advanced Remote Operation Centre (ROC) for immediate supervision and management of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).
The agreement will serve as the foundation for DNV and Samsung Heavy Industries to work together in fostering innovation and reshaping the outlook of maritime transportation.
Their collaborative effort aims to create a Remote Operation Centre (ROC) for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), pushing forward the evolution of autonomous shipping through the utilisation of state-of-the-art technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cybersecurity platforms. This initiative also emphasises the importance of safety and efficiency in operations.
DNV is going to provide guidance to SHI on their Remote Operation Centre (ROC) concept and subsequently certify it in accordance with applicable regulations.
