DHL opens climate-neutral logistics center in Halle

DHL Supply Chain has opened a new climate-neutral logistics center in Halle (Saale), Germany, expanding its Leipzig-Halle Campus and strengthening the region’s role as a major European freight hub. The state-of-the-art facility provides 34,000 square meters of warehouse space, up to 55,000 pallet positions, three 10,500-square-meter halls, and 27 loading docks. Built to DGNB Gold sustainability standards, it features photovoltaic systems and energy-efficient LED lighting.

Already fully operational, the site supports customers across multiple industries and benefits from strong multimodal connections, including access to DHL’s parcel and express network, major rail and highway routes, and Leipzig/Halle Airport—home to DHL’s largest global air freight hub. More than 450 employees currently work at the center, with 100 additional jobs planned as expansion continues.

“The new Halle site enables late cut-off times for next-day global deliveries and supports warehousing, picking, including hazardous goods, value-added services, and automated solutions,” said Aiste Slabokaite Heid, Business Unit Director North-East, DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps.

CEO Katrin Hoelter said the new facility expands sustainable growth capacity, particularly for the technology sector, and offers available space for additional customers seeking efficient operations and a strategic location.
