DHL Express expands U.S. electric fleet with Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans

DHL Express U.S. has added 45 new all-electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans to its pickup and delivery fleet, marking the first U.S. deployment under the companies’ global partnership. The vehicles, each offering over 200 miles of range, will operate in major metro areas including Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Elizabeth, and Moonachie.

The eSprinters, capable of exceeding 240 miles per charge, are DHL’s longest-range electric vans to date. Their large cargo capacity and strong performance make them ideal for both city routes and longer deliveries. DHL has also installed on-site charging stations at its facilities in these markets to maximize uptime and prepare for further fleet electrification.

“Electrifying our fleet is one of the most visible ways we’re building a sustainable future,” said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S. “The eSprinter’s extended range and cargo capability let us deliver with zero emissions while strengthening operations in major U.S. cities.”

Mercedes-Benz Vans North America Managing Director Jee-Seop Kim added, “The eSprinter combines range, reliability, and cargo space to meet modern logistics demands. We’re proud to see this partnership expand in the U.S.”

The rollout supports DHL’s global goal to electrify 66% of its last-mile fleet by 2030. It’s a major step in advancing cleaner, smarter logistics across the Americas.
