DCT Gdansk renamed Baltic Hub

The container terminal at the port of Gdansk in Poland, DCT Gdansk has been renamed Baltic Hub.

The terminal operator announced its name change which represents its ambitions to be the hub for the region, both by land and by sea, just two weeks after its 15th anniversary.

The Baltic Hub has strong transport relations with Central and Eastern Europe, with overland destinations such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany.

The total length of the Polish box terminal’s two deepwater berths is 1,300 metres enabling it to handle four vessels simultaneously. The terminal serves more than 700 vessels per year. Baltic Hub (BH) has a handling capacity of up to 3 million TEUs per year.

BH said it plans to start construction soon on its third deepwater terminal, known as T3, which will make the container hub one of the largest in Europe, capable of handling the next generation of container ships arriving in the Baltic Sea.

Construction of T3 will be completed by 2025 and will include a 717-metre-long deep-water pier with a depth of 17.5 metres along its length and an area of 365,000m².

“We are extremely proud of the terminal today, but we readily acknowledge that today’s Baltic Hub would not exist without the hard work and commitment of all our staff as well as the faith and loyalty of our stakeholders, customers, lenders, suppliers and local communities over these 15 years,” commented Charles Baker,  Baltic Hub CEO.
