Data Safe House Rotterdam launches operations to ensure confidential exchange of information

The Data Safe House Rotterdam Foundation was recently established and the first exchange of information between major industrial companies and network operators is now underway.

Port of Rotterdam Authority said in an announcement that data sharing ensures that network operators always have the most up-to-date information on the sustainability plans of affiliated companies.

As each company in the refining, chemicals and energy sectors draws up plans to make its operations more sustainable, this results in changing demand and supply from various energy players.

This usually means increasing the use of (green) energy and hydrogen and reducing the use of oil, gas and coal.

Port of Rotterdam Authority and Deltalinqs have founded the Data Safe House to ensure that the exchange of information between companies and network operators is confidential and efficient.

The Data Safe House started in Rotterdam, but the idea is that it can be adopted by other industry clusters. Netbeheer Nederland has therefore indicated its support for the initiative.

By exchanging data nationwide through the Data Safe House, forecasts by national planning agencies, for example, can also become more reliable, according to a statement.

The Data Safe House is, in addition to a Smart Energy grant from the municipality of Rotterdam, funded by contributions from the participating parties. Thirteen parties have since joined.
