Damen Triton IoT platform receives Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certification for Cyber Resilience

Damen Shipyards Group has revealed that its Triton Internet of Things (IoT) platform has received Bureau Veritas (BV) Type Approval Certification for Cyber Resilience.

The system collects all practical asset data accessible from a vessel and its engines, pumps, hydraulics, alarms, and other machinery, totalling over 10,000 signals for a single vessel.

This is then relayed to the personnel on board as well as the fleet managers on land. Crew can monitor asset health, repair plans, and other information using this data, which is displayed on different onboard and remote dashboards.

“The Triton IoT Platform is the perfect example of how digital technology can transform an industry. It is an industry-leading solution which enables unlocking exponential business for Damen and also benefits its ecosystem and the wider society,” stated Regu Ayyaswamy, global head of IoT & Digital Engineering at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Damen Digital Solutions, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Bureau Veritas collaborated closely to achieve Triton’s type certification.

Damen said it has prioritised cyber security and protocols in the creation of Triton from the start. This included hardening the gateway and deploying software and firmware update processes, as well as data protection at rest and transport and a comprehensive risk management process.

Damen and TCS plan to continue developing the platform, offering useful data analysis to their clients to help them improve the efficiency of their operations.
