Damen Shipyards Group and Folla Maritime have launched their new joint venture, Damen Folla, during the Aqua Nor exhibition in Trondheim. The move marks the next step in their partnership to deliver sustainable vessel solutions for the aquaculture sector.
The venture builds on Damen’s majority stake in Folla Maritime, announced in April. Folla Maritime brings decades of experience in aluminium workboats, while Damen contributes its global network, offshore expertise, and experience with larger steel vessels. Together, they aim to cover the entire aquaculture value chain, from nearshore operations to offshore support.
“Damen Folla unites local know-how with global scale,” said Jeroen van den Berg, Damen’s Product Director for aquaculture and fishing. “We can now deliver everything from agile aluminium workboats to larger offshore service vessels.”
Folla Maritime CEO Otto Sjølien called the new identity a natural step. “Our aluminium boats remain core to what we do,” he said. “But with Damen, we can take on larger and more complex projects.”
As their first collaboration, Damen Folla has unveiled the Aquaculture Service Vessel (AQSV) 2813. The hybrid vessel combines a 160 m² deck with three cranes, making it suitable for net handling, anchor installation, ROV deployment, transport, and towing.
Also, it offers 280 kN bollard pull, advanced dynamic positioning, and future-ready systems. Silent crew accommodation has also been designed to improve comfort during long offshore operations.

Moreover, the official launch of the AQSV 2813 will follow soon.
Damen and Folla already have a strong track record in aquaculture. Damen delivered the Volt Processor and the LUV 2510 series to operators in Norway and the UK. Lastly, Folla Maritime has supplied hybrid and electric-powered workboats to Nova Sea and Vega Sjøfarm.
