Damen Shipyards Group has delivered its latest Combi Freighter 3850, Holger G., to German shipping company Reederei Gerdes. The handover ceremony took place on 7 October at Bason Shipyard in Vietnam.
The CF 3850 is the newest generation in Damen’s cargo vessel range, designed for high efficiency and maximum cargo flexibility. The ship features a box-shaped hold, adjustable grain bulkheads, and a tween deck, making it suitable for both bulk and breakbulk cargo. The vessel was engineered in the Netherlands and built in Vietnam, with full aftersales support provided by Damen.
Reederei Gerdes has a long-running relationship with Damen, having received eleven vessels from the shipbuilder. Earlier this year, the company took delivery of sister ship Helga G. Damen continues to refine vessel design based on operator feedback, including improvements to onboard living and working conditions.
At the ceremony, Managing Director Nicole Gerdes highlighted the family-owned culture shared by both companies, praising Damen’s commitment to collaborative problem-solving. Damen’s Remko Bouma confirmed two more vessels are under construction for the owner and reaffirmed the strong partnership.
The new vessel will operate under over-C, a joint venture focused on coaster chartering across Europe.
