Windcat signed a contract with Damen Shipyards Group for a new Multi-Purpose Accommodation Support Vessel (MP-ASV), introducing the Innovation Series. The agreement covers one vessel with options for five more.
The MP-ASVs combine the large deck and subsea crane capabilities of traditional MPSVs with high-standard offshore accommodation. Measuring 102 m by 20 m, they offer 750 m² of deck space, a 150-tonne crane, and the ability to launch and recover ROVs, supporting extended offshore operations for up to 190 personnel.
Sustainability is central to the design. A 3,981 kWh battery pack enables low-emission operation, while peak shaving optimizes fuel use. A dual-fuel hydrogen engine powers the auxiliary genset, integrating low-carbon fuels for decarbonized performance.
Safety and reliability are enhanced through a DP2+ dynamic positioning system with thruster redundancy, ensuring continued operations in remote offshore locations. Comfortable, ergonomic accommodations minimize seasickness and support long-term offshore missions.
Damen Sales Manager Joost van der Weiden highlighted the partnership as a model for innovation and sustainability, while Windcat Managing Director Willem van der Wel emphasized combining performance with comfort for next-generation offshore support.
Construction of the first Innovation Series MP-ASV will begin in February 2026 at Damen’s Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam, with delivery scheduled for 2028.
