DACHSER drives from Ireland to the European continent

DACHSER has reintroduced a key logistics route connecting Ireland to continental Europe via the UK, reviving what was once a common practice before Brexit disrupted trade flows.

The new Smart Landbridge Connect service offers Irish exporters a faster and more flexible alternative to direct ferry crossings, breathing new life into a route that had all but disappeared in recent years.

By leveraging its extensive customs know-how and robust European groupage network, DACHSER is now running freight from Ireland across the so-called British landbridge, using the UK as a transit corridor before connecting to Europe through the Channel Tunnel. The service allows for up to 40 weekly departures to destinations in 35 countries.

“By restoring a fast and efficient UK Landbridge option, DACHSER is creating a competitive advantage for Irish exporters. By utilising a simple T2 transit procedure, Irish trade can move seamlessly through the UK for onward connection through the Channel Tunnel, allowing Irish trade to reach European destinations more quickly and efficiently”, says John Van Den Berg, Managing Director of DACHSER Ireland.
