DACHSER appoints new Air & Sea Logistics EMEA Chief

DACHSER has appointed Alexander Winter as Managing Director of its Air & Sea Logistics EMEA business unit, effective October 1. He takes over from Marc Meier, who will leave the company at the end of September.

Winter, 53, is an Austrian national with more than two decades of logistics experience. He joins DACHSER from DB Schenker (now part of DSV), where he has held leadership roles since 1999. Most recently, he served as CEO for Austria and Southeast Europe, overseeing air and sea freight, road transport, and contract logistics. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its regional presence and achieved steady growth.

In his new role, Winter will report directly to Dr. Tobias Burger, DACHSER’s COO for Air & Sea Logistics.

“Alexander Winter brings extensive knowledge of international logistics and proven expertise in developing local markets,” said Dr. Burger. “He knows how to build efficient operations while staying focused on customers.”

DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling emphasized the importance of Winter’s appointment. “Europe is our core market. We need a strong air and sea freight organization that drives growth through globally connected, end-to-end logistics solutions,” he said. “Alexander Winter is the right person to take our network to the next level.”
