CULines launches Transpacific service to support foreign trade SMEs

The Shanghai-based container line, China United Lines (CULines) has announced the start of its first Transpacific service (TPX) aiming to provide solutions to major foreign trade customers, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The new service will commence on 18 July and will link China to the West Coast of the United States. According to CULines announcement, the TPX service will run with five 1,700-4,400TEU container vessels, connecting Shanghai and Los Angeles, “providing customers with point-to-point express service.”

CULines said that with this new service it aims to face the booming demands of shipping space and the shortage of export logistics supply chain resources.

At the first stage of July and August, the TPX will provide 2-3 voyages per month by small size ships, while, in September, larger size vessels are anticipated to enter the service, which will be upgraded to a weekly service.

In addition, CULines has nominated Norton Lilly, a shipping agent in the American shipping market, as the port of destination (POD) agent.

The new US service of CULines strives to make a modest contribution to the supply of export shipping capacity in China and the smooth delivery of international logistics, according to a statement.
