CSG to build AED 300M energy-saving glass plant in Abu Dhabi

CSG Signing

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) has announced that China Southern Glass (CSG) will establish its first overseas intelligent manufacturing facility in the UAE. The AED 300 million project, located in ICAD 1, Musaffah, will create 400 specialised jobs and support Abu Dhabi’s industrial growth and economic diversification.

The 95,000-square-metre plant will serve as CSG’s regional headquarters for producing high-performance energy-saving glass. Once operational, it will manufacture over 5 million square metres of coated, laminated, and insulating glass annually, supplying projects across the UAE, Gulf, Europe, Africa, and the United States.

“This investment by CSG reflects strong confidence in Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy,” said Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO, Economic Cities & Free Zones, AD Ports Group. “The project strengthens the industrial base, reduces reliance on imports, and creates opportunities across the value chain. KEZAD continues to attract leading sustainable businesses to the region.”

Wenxin Wang, Vice President & CFO of CSG Group, added: “Abu Dhabi offers the ideal platform for our first Middle East manufacturing venture. Our fully digitalised, intelligent production lines will deliver premium energy-saving glass while supporting the long-term development of the local industrial economy.”

The plant, featuring automated production and world-leading coating technology, is expected to begin operations in late 2026, supplying UAE developers with locally manufactured glass and advancing the region’s clean energy and green building agenda.
