Crowley launches first direct service linking US Northeast and Central America

Crowley has unveiled its first direct ocean route between the US Northeast and Central America, strengthening the company’s logistics footprint in the region.

The service connects the Port of Philadelphia’s Gloucester Marine Terminal with ports in Guatemala and Honduras and, by extension, shippers in El Salvador and Nicaragua, providing faster delivery of fresh produce, apparel, industrial products, and consumer goods.

Sailings will be handled by Crowley’s new LNG-powered Avance Class vessels, starting with the Copán on 3 July, which will depart Central America bound for Gloucester City, New Jersey.

Terminal operations in Philadelphia will be managed by Gloucester Terminals LLC, a Holt Logistics affiliate.

Christian Holt, sales representative for Gloucester Terminals added that this route opens faster, more efficient pathways for Northeast businesses to reach international customers.

The new Central America corridor builds on Crowley’s seven-decade presence in the Northeast Atlantic, where it already serves Puerto Rico, the Eastern Caribbean, and the US Virgin Islands with regular container services.
