COSCO Valencia Terminal to expand RTG crane fleet

COSCO Shipping Ports (CSP) Iberian Valencia Terminal has ordered two rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes at the port equipment manufacturer Konecranes.

The cranes on the order that are expected to be delivered to the Spanish terminal in the third quarter of 2022 are similar to Valencia terminal’s existing fleet of 39 Konecranes RTGs.

“We’ve been working with Konecranes for years. They have always followed through on their commitments with excellent local support,” said the general manager of Valencia Terminal, Gustavo Ferrer.

The machines have a lifting capacity of 40.6 tonnes, lifting containers 1-over-5 high, six rows wide plus truck lane. They will also dispose of Stage V diesel gensets, to fulfill the latest European Union (EU) emissions standards.
