COSCO starts new Linyi-Huangdao sea-rail intermodal train service

COSCO Shipping has launched its new Linyi-Huangdao sea-rail intermodal transport dedicated train service on 1 December.

A container train, loaded with plates, departed from Linyi Zhubao Railway Logistics Park and will move its cargo to the Port of Qingdao, from where the plates will be transported all over the world.

“This is another important initiative of COSCO Shipping Lines to create end-to-end, sea-rail intermodal transport services relying on the dense and efficient railroad network in the region to help local Small and Mid-size Enterprise (SMEs) ship their goods,” said the company in its announcement.

In order to assist local SMEs transport their cargoes, COSCO Shipping Lines Qingdao and its Linyi branch have analysed the challenges and difficulties in the transportation process. By addressing practical problems such as the use of containers and shortage of shipping space, they have implemented one-stop service for customers, such as cargo packing at the factory gate, customs clearance at the place of cargo origin, and cargo collection directly in the industrial park, significantly reducing logistics costs for customers, according to a statement.

The Chinese container carrier said that based on the smooth operation of the train, it will take advantage of the inland railroad hub to provide customers with more efficient and high-quality end-to-end, sea-rail intermodal transport services and supply chain solutions.
