COSCO places milestone order for Everllence dual-fuel engines

Everllence has reached a major milestone with its 2,000th order for a two-stroke dual-fuel engine. COSCO Shipping Lines marked the achievement by ordering 12 Everllence B&W 8G95ME-GI Mk. 10.5 main engines for a new series of 18,000 TEU container vessels.

The vessels are under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard in China. Each engine features EcoEGR technology, which reduces emissions and improves fuel efficiency.

“It is fitting that this milestone comes as we approach the Year of the Fire Horse,” said Bjarne Foldager, Head of Two-Stroke Business at Everllence. “China has been a key market for us for more than a century, and COSCO remains a valued partner.”

Everllence said its dual-fuel strategy has delivered several industry firsts. The company has developed engines capable of running on multiple low-emission fuels, with seamless switching between them.

Dual-fuel engines now account for just over half of Everllence’s order book, measured by engine power. The 2,000 orders include ME-GI (methane), ME-LGIM (methanol), ME-GIE (ethane), ME-LGIP (LPG), and the new ME-LGIA (ammonia) models.

Christian Ludwig, Head of Global Sales and Promotion, said demand continues to grow as shipowners seek decarbonisation and fuel flexibility. He added that Everllence is also delivering more digitally connected engines to support remote monitoring and real-time performance optimisation.
