COSCO SHIPPING has announced a new service between Wuhan and Xiamen in China, opening a new sea-rail intermodal container transportation channel.
The first COSCO SHIPPING Wuhan-Xiamen sea-rail intermodal train, carrying a total of 40 TEU, departed from Wuhan Wujiashan Station on 26 June and arrived at Xiamen Qianchang Station on 30 June before being delivered to the port of Xiamen on the same day.
The seaport in Wuhan has been affected by the pandemic, suffering serious congestion and frequent vessel port of call changes. This causes a significant impact on clients’ shipping schedules, according to COSCO.
Therefore, COSCO SHIPPING Lines Wuhan, COSCO SHIPPING Xiamen and CSP Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal investigated the market transportation channels and cooperated with one another to jointly create the Wuhan-Xiamen sea-rail intermodal transport service.
