COSCO innovation centre to focus on shipping data analysis

COSCO Shipping Technology Intelligent Shipping Innovation Center has been listed in the Group Open Innovation (GOI) Plan, in a ceremony that was held at China Financial Information Center in Pudong.

COSCO Group’s subsidiary has the mission of making innovations, developing the Chinese shipping line’s information technology (IT) business and implementing the Internet Plus strategy.

As one of the second batches of GOI centres selected by Pudong New Area, the Center has set up joint laboratories and experimental bases since its establishment in June 2018, with a multitude of award-winning innovation achievements.

In the next three years, the centre will focus on research and development work in the fields of data analysis based on all shipping elements, industrial big data analysis based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and business collaborations between the Pudong port and carrier supply chains, based on blockchain smart contracts, according to a statement.

It is also expected to empower more than 100 shipping and related enterprises, achieving integrated development and collaborative innovation together with Pudong-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from various domains.
