COSCO and OOCL adjust MWAX service

COSCO SHIPPING LINES has suspended acceptance of new bookings on several Middle East routes following the escalation of regional conflicts and restrictions affecting maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

COSCO Shipping Lines (COSCOSL) and OOCL have updated the rotation of their Mediterranean–West Africa service, officially designated as the MWAX service. The adjustments, which have been in effect since Q4 2025, aim to streamline the direct itinerary while maintaining comprehensive coverage for the region.

Revised Service Rotation

The MWAX service is currently operated by two vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,800 TEU. The service maintains an average frequency of 18 days.

The updated port rotation includes:

  • Valencia

  • Algeciras

  • Dakar

  • Tema

  • Abidjan

  • Dakar

  • Valencia

Conakry connectivity maintained

While the direct call to Conakry, Guinea, has been removed from the MWAX rotation, COSCO has clarified that the port remains a key part of their network. To avoid any service disruptions, Conakry is now served through an exclusive African feeder network, ensuring continuous connectivity for Guinean imports and exports via transshipment hubs.
