Container traffic decreases in Valencia

Port of Valencia reported a 23.5% decline in its January container volumes, compared with the same month last year, handling 343,793 TEUs.

According to the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), full containers dropped by 25% year-on-year, with a decline of 32.3% in import boxes and a 10.2% fall in export containers. The transshipment containers also decreased by 28.1% over January 2022.

Additionally, in the first month of the year, a total of 5.7 million tonnes were moved through the Spanish port, translating to a 16% decrease from the same month in 2022.

On the other hand, Valenciaport began 2023 with a rise in liquid and solid bulk traffic achieving a 13.8% rise in liquid bulk and a 21.4% increase in solid bulk.
