CMA CGM updates S. America to West Africa service

CMA CGM Group will change the port rotation of its South America to West Africa, SAMWAF, service from the end of January.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]The updated service will call the port of Tema in Ghana instead of the port of Pointe Noire, offering a direct call to “one of the trade’s main markets in West Africa”. The new SAMWAF service port rotation will be Paranaguá ─ Itajai ─ Santos Brazil ─ Santos DPW ─ Durban ─ Cape Town ─ Luanda ─ Tema MPS ─ Paranaguá.

The first vessel, which will be deployed on the new port rotation, will be the 3,426TEU vessel GH Leste starting from Paranaguá on 25 January.

The service will therefore improve the transit time to Ghana by 10 days (33 days from Santos), according to CMA CGM, which mentions that the whole service rotation will need 49 days.

SAMWAF: South America – South Africa – West Africa

The French carrier said that Pointe Noire will be offered in transhipment via Cape Town, while Benin and Nigeria will be offered via Tema. Additionally, Douala, Matadi, Libreville and Cabinda will be offered via Luanda, according to CMA CGM’s announcement.[/s2If]
